- Programming is structured for youth ages 8-12, teens 13-17, and young adults 18-29 and provides valued benefits of organized sports including leadership, discipline, and teamwork, and creativity.
Life Skills and Social Development
Our life skills and social development programs filter beyond physical activity, and connect members to resources and figures that will extend support services to individuals through Detroit Sports Zone. Youth are connected to tools and platforms that extend beyond sports to further their social development. In addition to the benefits organized sports offer, DSZ’s mentoring and leadership programs provide youth accessible figures that can offer guidance and be positive influences on their lives.
Education
The Detroit Sports Zone utilizes its sports and recreation platform for educational purposes. DSZ exposes youth to sports-related fields and provides opportunities for youth to learn and experience more than just the sport itself. DSZ also facilitates partnerships with educational institutions to further the academic enrichment of youth. In addition, we work with industry professionals, athletes, and everyday role models to organize mentor programs for youth.
